Be, Be, Be Prepared...
I am a person who tries to plan for every contingency and situation. That whole "Be Prepared" thing is the only thing I really got from the Boy Scouts (well, that, and I learned how to swear such that a sailor would blush). If I wanted to, I could get in my car right now and leave for a weekend trip, and I would have clothes, toiletries and plenty of reading material for the entire weekend. Yep, I keep an overnight bag in my car at all times. It has really come in handy before, too! I enjoy having the things I like and need around me, and I go to great lengths to make sure that I'm prepared. I think the whole "bag in the car" thing stems from the fact that I've spent much of my life living in the suburbs, yet living a very full life in the city adjacent. I grew up 30 mains north of Houston, and was CONSTANTLY going back and forth, and if I needed something, it wasn't like I could just run home and get it. I have a similar situation now: I live 30 mins from San Antonio, and 40 mins from Austin, and that's where I spend much of my free time. So I pack a bag in case I need anything. I have often wondered if other people do this, but I don't think they do. I'm just weird, I guess. (and yes, that IS me in that picture. I was about 12 years old. No, I don't know why my pants are pulled up past my belly button. I think I was in an "awkward phase".) Posted by timbrat • 01:58 AM
